61st Infantry

1985.093 State Color Evans and Hassall v1p169
Remnants of state color for 61st Infantry. The 61st was recruited in Pittsburgh during early fall 1861, however was not full strength until February 1862. It was composed of men from Indiana, Allegheny, Luzerne, and Philadelphia counties. The regiment received their first state color on January 5, 1862. The state color was retired from service in April 1863 due to heavy battle and weather damage. The 61st was mustered out of service on June 28, 1865.

61st Infantry, Second State Color. The 61st was recruited in Pittsburgh during early fall 1861. It was composed of men from Indiana, Allegheny, Luzerne, and Philadelphia counties. The second state color was received in April 1863. The flag was retired from service in August 1864. The 61st was mustered out of service on June 28, 1865. Click here for more images

The third state color was received by the regiment until December 1864. The regiment was mustered out of service on June 28, 1865.
